A night out

It is Saturday morning and I have the whole day ahead of me. I have just begun my Easter holidays in a village near the sea and tonight there is a party and I have to be there.

I’m staring at myself in the mirror thinking about what I am going to do there. My best friend’s sister is turning 18, three years younger than me. We have known each other since we were kids. We grew up together and shared most of the best moments of our lives, but unfortunately they have drifted apart recently.

Last week, I received an invitation from her. She was wondering if I could go to her party. It has been a long time since we’ve seen each other and her 18th birthday celebration was the ideal reason to see each other again.

Childhood memories came to my mind when I read the invitation because when she was nearly 15, she was streets ahead of me . She didn’t care so much about money. The clothes she wore didn’t fit in with other teenagers at her age.

It was my first day off and I was torn between going or staying in: it was just one more party.

Today I have phoned her to accept the invitation. I have wondered to myself why she has invited me to the party . Suddenly, I realized that there was just one reason to go.
